Quilting Mojo Back

I think I finally got my quilting mojo back this week. My boss at work has been working on a quilt for her brother. She has been giving us updates of what she has been doing. I kept thinking I needed to get back to mine.
Tuesday night I kicked my own rear end and said I was going to work on one of my projects come heck or high water. I decided that I ought to get the placemats that have been partially cut out since the beginning of November off of the dining room table/area. I had the prints cut out, but needed to cut out the solids, place setting panel and the backs.
Finally had everything cut, but the bias and the batting. Tonight I got myself down to my machine and put 15 of them together. 14 whole placemats and the extra one I am making for my holiday hanging.
In the middle if the process. Sewing rows together.
Here are the completed tops. Although it looks like the picture is upside down. Hoping to cut the batting tomorrow. I need to sandwich them together and then put on the bias. I originally had planned on machine quilting a heart on the solids, but now can't make up my mind if it is too much. Maybe I will try it on one and see what I think.

Valentine Placemats

This is something that I have been putting off for a couple of months. Valentine's is the theme for this years placemats for my nieces and nephews. Most of it has been the commitment to stand and cut fabric with a bum knee. I am doing a nine patch. It will go fast I just have to get them cut.

I got all the prints cut this afternoon. Tomorrow I will cut the solids, place setting section, and backs. Then to the sewing machine. Here are the prints.

Halloween Placemats

Okay, one thing that I find very easy to do is go overboard on a new project. It's like the over achiever in me waiting to get out.

I mentioned several weeks ago that I had seen a really cute Halloween wall hanging in the quilt shop a couple of weeks ago. I let it sit in the back of my mind for a while and then had this brainstorm. I decided to make placemats for the nieces and nephews for Christmas this year. I found all of the fabric on holiday clearance. I'm going to do a set of six. One each year. This year is Halloween. I'm excited about it. Although the kids might think it a bit strange when they open it on Christmas morning.

I got all of the nieces and nephews done and mailed today. I cut the back bigger and folded over to make the bias. I now know I hate that method. From now on I will put on a separate one. Much easier!

I still have the four for our family, the two for Ann and the two for my in-laws. They will have to wait until after Christmas. Too much to do.
